Copper landlines and the 2027 switch-off
Copper phone lines are being switched off, and prices are rising in the meantime. We’ll move you across with as little disruption as possible.
What is happening
The deadline
Copper phone lines have underpinned UK communication for decades. With the industry-wide switch-off planned for January 2027, prices on copper services are rising steadily to encourage customers onto modern equivalents before the deadline arrives.
January 2027
The industry-wide switch-off date. Rising copper prices are already being used to move people along.
Where you end up
Usually hosted VoIP over a broadband line, which costs less and does more than the copper line it replaces.
The things people forget
Alarms, lifts, care lines and card machines often sit on a copper line. These need planning, not discovering in 2027.
